How to get to Quillan
As the retreat place is located in a rural area, the public transport connections may seem a bit adventurous to some city cats, so please make sure you plan in advance, schedule in some buffer time and have the spirit of the adventurer on board.
You will be picked up at Quillan train station and comfortably be transferred to the retreat place from there.
May the force be with you!
From Toulouse Aiport
From Toulouse Airport you get to the central train station (Toulouse Gare SNCF) with a bus (directly) or tram (to station Palais de Justice – from there it’s a 10 minute walk to the central train station).
From the central train station you take the train to Carcassonne (40min ride) and from there the bus to Quillan (1h20 ride).
Voilà.
From Perpignan, Montpellier or Girona
Perpignan, Montpellier & Girona are further close cities with Airports. From Perpignan there is the bus line 500 directly to Quillan (1h50). All further connections are a bit more tricky. In general it's really helpful to use Google Maps to plan your route and click on the train symbol for receiving the information about public transportation possibilites. The website for the French public transportation net is SNCF.
Travelling by land
If you have the time and resources to travel by bus or train, useful sites are: Omio.com Flixbus BlablaBus & BlablaCar
Hitch-hiking
Hitch-hiking is a common way of travelling in the rural areas of South France. Before I had my van this is how I got around in this area (and still do sometimes) and it works perfectly.
So if you have some time, want to save money or are up for an adventure – this could be an option for you. I'm happy to share all my hitch-hiking tricks & recommendations with you. Just get in contact.
